CODE RED AIR QUALITY ALERT

Monmouth County Health Department LINCS Communication (Local Information Network and Communication System) __________________________________________________________________ The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Red Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates in New Jersey (and all of Monmouth County), until midnight EDT Thursday night.  An Air Quality Advisory means that air quality within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. People with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should: Avoid strenuous outdoor activities. Limit outdoor activities. NJ American Water Temporary Water Treatment Changes

As part of the annual maintenance program NJAM will temporarily change the water treatment process from a chloramine (combination) residual to free chlorine residual at the company’s Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune.  The temporary treatment process will begin the week of February 6, 2023, and continue until April 2023.
