Emergency Situations Examples: Floods, Hurricanes, Blizzards, Etc.

In case of emergency, remember to:

Make A Plan – know where you will meet and how you will contact family members.

Build A Kit – Have an emergency supply kit containing water, nonperishable food, battery powered radio, flashlight, extra batteries, medication and sanitary supplies.

Be Informed – Know how to receive emergency information in your community.

Emergency Bulletins are broadcast on radio stations WJLK-94.3FM, WOBM-92.7FM and WRAT-95.9FM. Emergency notifications can also be received via phone and/or email by registering for Bradley Beach’s Emergency Notification System. This can be done by clicking here. You may also go to the Bradley Beach Police Department to register.

If you must prepare to evacuate, and time permits, you should secure your home by bringing all outdoor objects that could become projectiles indoors, turn off all utilities, move valuables to higher floors.

Never walk through standing or moving flood water.

PREPARE

The Borough of Bradley Beach’s Local Emergency Planning Committee (L.E.P.C.) is comprised of members of the various Borough departments and organizations. The membership includes:

Please use off street parking if available during all snow emergencies.

REGULATIONS FOR SNOW PLOWING – ALTERNATE SIDE OF THE STREET PARKING

If your street runs EAST TO WEST: While snowing and prior to being plowed, parking is prohibited on the South Side of the street until the plowing of the South Side is complete. Once completed, parking is prohibited on the North Side of the street until the snow is plowed off the North Side. If the street runs NORTH to SOUTH: While snowing and prior to being plowed, parking is prohibited on the East Side of the street until the snow is plowed off the East Side. Parking is prohibited on the West Side of the street until the snow is plowed off the West Side.

SNOW REMOVAL

Sidewalks and Parking Lots: Snow and ice shall be removed from sidewalks and private parking lots within 24 hours after cessation of precipitation.

TRASH

Trash and Recycling should not be placed curbside during a snow emergency.

PLACING SNOW OR ICE INTO THE STREET (S) IS PROHIBITED

No person or other entity shall throw, place or deposit any snow or ice into or on any street in the Borough, and no owner, tenant or occupant shall cause or allow such throwing, placing or depositing or any snow or ice to remain in the street, being the intent and purpose of this provision to prohibit all such persons and entities from throwing, placing or depositing snow or ice which accumulated on the private property of adjoining sidewalks into the streets of the Borough.

The emergency notification system enables us to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons, and evacuation of buildings or neighborhoods. The Bradley Beach Office of Emergency Management in cooperation with the Monmouth County Division of Aging, Disability and Veterans’ Services is pleased to offer Register Ready Program.

The Register Ready Program allows our residents, who may require assistance in the case of an evacuation, to register for help in advance. The reasons assistance may be needed vary, a disability, age, size, the need for use of medical equipment or the inability to speak or understand the English language.

Registration can be done online by clicking here. Persons may also register by completing a registration form which can be obtained at the Bradley Beach Police Department, 701 Main Street, Bradley Beach, NJ 07720 or by calling 2-1-1.

The Bradley Beach Office of Emergency Management situational responses are to natural/man made events. Because of the origins and progress of each of these individual events are responses have to be fluid.

Upon activation of the shelter(s) the Bradley Beach OEM will notify residents through the Borough website, telephone notification system, mobile public address system, electronic billboard located outside of Borough Hall (municipal complex), radio, television and newspaper media.

There is ONE congregate care shelter in the Boro with the ability to accommodate 125 persons. It is the Bradley Beach Firehouse located at 815 Main Street. There are also THREE alternate congregate facilities should the primary shelter be unusable. These alternate shelters can provide accommodations for approximately 500 persons.

If a resident requires sheltering for a pet, they can contact the Bradley Beach Police Department.

The County OEM will provide transportation from the Borough shelters to the main County shelter should the need arise.

Our specialists have access to a resource database of over 6,600 community programs and services that assist people who need help with life’s most basic needs like food, utilities, affordable housing, rental assistance, mental and physical health, substance use disorders, childcare, senior needs, legal assistance, transportation, disability services and so much more.

NJ 211 also serves as the State Homeless Hotline and New Jersey’s Utility Assistance Hotline.

Our History

The statewide information and referral service began in 2002 when the United Ways of New Jersey spearheaded efforts to give people in need an easy way to find health and human services by encouraging the Board of Public Utilities to designate the NJ 2-1-1 Partnership as the sole administrator of the three digit dialing code. On February 11, 2005, New Jersey’s 211 system was launched statewide.

We’ve been assisting people ever since. In 2022, NJ 211 helped over 1.3 million people find health and human service resources in local communities throughout our state. More than 980,000 people visited our website where they were able to access informative content pages about programs and systems created to address life’s basic needs; download applications and find critically important eligibility criteria. Web visitors use the very same database that our community resource specialists turn to when assisting people who contact our help center by phone, text or online chat.
